Chris Dobson, Director of Communications
Chris Dobson is a highly experienced print and TV journalist and has run his own production company for the last four years. In addition to his extensive journalism career, Chris is also a professional media trainer, PR and communications expert.
Chris was brought up and educated in Britain. He started his journalism career on the Hastings and St Leonards Observer before heading to Australia where he edited an outback paper, the Griffith Area News. Chris then moved to Hong Kong where he joined the South China Morning Post in 1990 as an investigative reporter.
During nearly six years at the paper he won five consecutive awards for his stories covering crime, espionage, the military and other news issues.
As well as being sent to work on the New York Post for five months Chris also travelled extensively throughout Asia and the rest of the world on assignments, including to South Africa, North Korea and Antarctica.
He later moved to television where he covered a variety of news and current affairs topics before setting up and running his own production company, SCREENasia, through which he has produced a range of programmes and corporate videos.
Drawing on his extensive career Chris also conducts media training to educate professionals on how to deal with and utilise the media. As well as the Hong Kong police, and the Independent Commission Against Corruption, he has trained pharmaceutical publishers CMPMedica and the Washington DC-based National Democratic Institute for International Affairs (NDI) as well as other large corporations.
